Final project

Tittle: Our environment.

Topic: The aim of this project is to encourage children to investigate about their environment (plants, animals...) and to know other environment.

Subjects: Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, English and Art & Crafts.

Age: 8-10 years old.

Duration: three months.

Goals: 
  • To plan projects
  • To develop collaborative work
  • To use information technology to find and select information and to present conclusions
  • To know different types of plants, animals and rocks
  • To know the consequences of human intervention in the environment
Contents: Animals, plants, rocks, consequences of human intervention, environment.

Methodology: We have in mind the goals when we will design the activities. Each activity will be planned carefully but, at the same time, we are going to be flexible. The methology will be cooperative and we will use ICT tools. It will be very important the social interaction.  Students have a limited knowlegde of other language and ICT, for these reasons, they work with model guided and linguistic structures what they afford interact with other students. Finally, the work will be active and investigative.

Final product: Prepare a collaborative ebook about animal, plants and rocks of their environment. (2-3 schools of different countries)

Work proccess: 
  • Present us: national group. Each class prepare a presentation about students and teacher.
  • Form mixed teams of different natinalities.
  • Contact students using twinspace, google chat or skype.
  • Prepare a digital poster about animals and characteristic in glogster. (mixed teams)
  • Make this eactivity 
  • To review contents using Kahoot. (Individual)
  • Make a google drive presentation about their enviroment in Spanish and English. 
  • Self evaluation in padlet and google drive forms.
  • Share the results in twinspace and our blog.
Assessment 
Complete a form in google drive and share their impressions in padlet.
In each subject assess the objectives using rubrics, observation and improve of school results.

e-activity

The tittle of my project is "Our environment" Now, I am going to present an activity incluided in the project. The students work in international groups of 4-5. Age: 8-9 years old. Each group will make a presentation about two typical plants of their environment.

Objectives
- To know different types of plants.
- To use ICT to present their work.
- To develope collaborative work.

Work process
- To make the collaborative team
- To give a rubric with the aspects that will be evaluated.
- To open a collaborative document in google drive.
- To upload photos about two typical plants of the environment of each country.
- To write information about these using English and Spanish.
- To present the activity in twinspace that it will be evaluated for other group using the rubric.
- To collect all the work and publish them in our blog.

Finally, each student could be publish in a collaborative padlet the strenghts and weakness of this activity.


Strengths and weaknesses

I get in my draft 13 out of 16. These are my conclusions.

- Strengths: A peer has written that he/she likes the idea. Communitations tools are specified. It's a good draft but it's not developed.

- Weakness: Not enough info about the work process.  Tools are specified but not linked with the activities. I think I can be more specific. Evaluation should be developed.

I have evaluated three drafts. Each one of them are fantastics and they could be excellent projects next year. These drafts must be more developed.

Unit 2. Innovation in the classroom

This week we have done a collective brainstorm using padlet.



Then, we have received some advice about how to develop an etwinning project.
Also, I have contributed to the Open eTwinning list recommending "Class Dojo"

 Finally, I must answer two questions:
  1. What needs or areas of improvement and learning have I detected in my teaching? I know different interesting tools to work in class with my students but then I find hardware difficulties at school and I become discouraged. I think that I need more time in class in order to work ICT with my students.
  2. What projects have I found than might help me? From my point of view to make an eTwinning project and to use gamification could motivate to students and it's a good reason to use ICT in class.
